Dan noticed a bottle of Pinot Noir made by Mark Ryan on the shelf. We both like Mark’s wines, but we’ve only seen the big red wines that he’s known for. We didn’t know that he made a Pinot Noir, so we were curious to see his take on it. We saw that he sources his fruit from the Lachini Vineyard, so we picked up a bottle from Lachini to try on the show as well. Specifically, we have the 2010 Mark Ryan Black Love, and the 2010 Lachini Vineyards “S”.

What do you think about Oregon truffles?

For this show we check in on an old Oregon producer, and a new one. The Dundee Hills Chardonnay from Cameron has delivered excellent QPR in the past, and we were excited to check out the 2011 release. Both of us had tasted the 2011 Medici Vineyard Pinot Noir from Bow & Arrow at a tasting recently. We both enjoyed it enough that we wanted to share it on the show. Both of these are definitely worth checking out if you have a chance.

What did you drink for Thanksgiving?

Here’s the Cameron video that Chas talks about during the show.

While out tasting, we both enjoyed the 2010 Lia’s Vineyard from Seven of Hearts, so we picked up a bottle to share with you. We had also heard good things about Walter Scott wines, and Dan picked up a bottle of their 2009 Holstein Vineyard Pinot Noir to check out.

Do you want us to do more goofy wines on the show?

Instead of traditional celebratory wine for New Year’s Day, this year we decided to take a look at two local Pinot Noir producers. We want to really heighten our focus on wines from the Pacific North West this year, so there’s no better time to start than day 1! We taste the 2010 Ayers Willamette Valley Pinot Noir and the 2010 Teutonic Wine Company Laurel Vineyard Pinot Noir.

For today’s question, just name an Oregon Pinot Noir producer you’d like to see us check out on the show, and we’ll do it. Thanks for a great 2011!
