Dan tasted one Riesling over Thanksgiving weekend that he wanted to share, and Chas picked up two more bottles from 2011 to make the show. We hope to be doing more of these in 2013. We’ve got two bottles from Oregon and one from Washington this week with the 2011 Eroica from Chateau Ste. Michelle and Dr. Loosen, the 2011 Love and Squalor Willamette Valley Riesling, and the 2011 Trisaetum Estates Reserve Riesling.

What summer activity are you looking forward to most?

For this show, we grabbed a mix of white wines we had on hand. All of these were picked up with the intent of mixing them into a themed show. We wanted to show them before they got too old though, so we decided to mix it up instead of waiting around. We taste the 2009 Trisaetum Lasa, the 2009 Matello Ribbon Ridge Pinot Gris, and the 2010 DePonte Cellars DFB Melon de Bourgogne. We were very sad to hear of the loss of Deb Whiting from Red Newt Winery in the Finger Lakes, and wanted to dedicate this episode to her memory.

For this week’s show, we get into some pink wine.  When we recorded this, the weather was horrible, but it has since changed to deliver appropriate rose drinking conditions.  We received Trisaetum’s 2010 Trisae Willamette Valley Rose as a sample, and Dan picked up the DePonte Cellars 2010 Willamette Valley Rose on a visit to the winery, so we thought they’d make for an interesting show.  What is your favorite Oregon Rose?

We tried the Pashey Riesling from Trisaetum in an earlier episode and it turned out that the bottle was corked. The winery was kind enough to not only replace the corked bottle but they sent us samples of some other Riesling bottlings as well! We tasted three of them together for this show the 2009 Trisaetum Josahn Estate and Pashey Rieslings. We liked them all and we’re thrilled to see Oregon producers putting focused effort into quality Riesling!
